Heracleion, Lost Egyptian City Revealed After 1,200 Years Under Sea.
That last shot of the stone stela coming out of the water. Wow. I was expecting it to be covered with sediments and other sea life stuff, but no! It’s pristine looking!

Russian Beard Tax Token, 1705
In 1705, Emperor Peter I of Russia instituted a beard tax to modernise the society of Russia following European models. Those who paid the tax were required to carry a “beard token”. This was a copper or silver token with a Russian Eagle on one side and on the other, the lower part of a face with nose, mouth, whiskers, and beard. It was inscribed with two phrases: “the beard tax has been taken” and “the beard is a superfluous burden”.
Europa regina in Sebastian Münster’s “Cosmographia”, 1570

A man with ties to the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was shot and killed by an FBI agent while being questioned in Florida, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday.
The man who was shot, Ibragim Todashev, 27, was not suspected of having played any role in the bombing that killed three people and injured scores more in April, they said.
Instead, law enforcement officials said Todashev was being questioned as part of the FBI’s effort to find and talk to anyone who had any contact with Tsarnaev, the older bombing suspect.
Officials say FBI agents were questioning Todashev on Tuesday. He was cooperative at first, they say, but late Tuesday night, he attacked the agent, who shot and killed him.
Interesting method of interrogation — shoot them dead.
